This office came into existence on September 1, 1971 after bifurcation
of the O/o the Accountant General, Maharashtra, Mumbai and was known
as O/o The Accountant General (Central) Mumbai and then as O/o The Director
of Audit (Central), Mumbai from April 1, 1979. It was renamed as O/o
The Principal Director of Audit (Central) from September 6, 1989. The
office is now located in the new business district of Mumbai, the Bandra-Kurla
Complex and is housed in an independent building “Audit Bhavan”.
Shri Guljari Lal has done B.A. (Honours School) in History from Mohindra
College, Patiala, M.A. (History) from Punjabi University, Patiala and MBA from
Indira Gandhi National University.
He is from 1992 batch of Indian Audit and Accounts Service and has held
important assignments such as Dy. Accountant General, O/o the Accountant General
(Audit), Haryana, Sr. Dy. Accountant General, O/o the Accountant General, (A &
E), Punjab, Sr. Dy. Accountant General, O/o the Accountant General (Commercial),
Uttar Pradesh, Director, Member Audit Board–I, Director, Member Audit Board III,
Financial Adviser, Delhi Transport Development Corporation, Director, Ministry
of Finance (Expenditure). He has done Certification of transaction in various UN
organizations including Onchocerciasis programme at Burkina Faso and various WHO
Organisations including AFRO Headquarters in Zimbabwe& DRC. He is currently
holding the charge of Director General of Audit (C), Mumbai.
He is heading the office of Director General of Audit (Central) Mumbai, which is
responsible for the Revenues sector audit including audit of department of i)
Income Tax, (Maharashtra Region) ii) GST, iii) Customs for Maharashtra & Goa.
Besides this office is also responsible for expenditure & certification audit of
Central Civil & Autonomous Bodies located in the Maharashtra & Goa.
